How to Upgrade Magento Linux from 1.6 to 1.7 via SSH

In our last blogs we have provided some useful tutorials as to upgrading Magento from 1.6 to 1.7 in windows. In this blog, we’ll share a Magento tutorial of upgrading your store from 1.6 to 1.7 in Linux. We will cite some steps which should be followed for Magento Linux 1.7 upgrade.

Step 1

In the first step you need to put your website in maintenance mode by pointing your website to customized landing page with message like “Site is temporarily Down” or any other message.

Step 2

The second step is about taking backups. You must take backup of:

  • Database
  • Website Files

Step 3

In this step you need to upgrade your Magento store through command prompt shell.

Magento Upgrade 1.6 to 1.7 via Connect Manager
